Inclusive procurement resources: Using UBC’s purchasing power for good

UBC has designed inclusive procurement resources to support faculty and staff in making purchasing decisions that reflect our institutional values while meeting academic, operational, and budget needs. Two key resources support this work: the Indigenous Business Directory and the Sustainable Procurement Toolkit. 

• The Indigenous Business Directory supports purchasing goods and services from Indigenous businesses and vendors. 
  • You can also learn more about the vendors through the supplier spotlight series. New spotlights will be released each Friday in January and early February 2026. 
  • This supports UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan.  
• The Sustainable Procurement Toolkit provides practical tools and templates to support responsible purchasing and life cycle management.  
  • This supports UBC’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) 2030, Zero Waste Action Plan, and 20-Year Sustainability Strategy. 

Together, these programs help embed sustainability, inclusion, and ethical considerations into procurement processes across the university.
