The VPFO is made up of diverse individuals doing important work to support the university. To help team members gain a better understanding of VPFO’s strategic plan and how their day-to-day work connects with our plan, Communications & Engagement is launching a new campaign to spotlight champions of our strategic plan. 

Research: Simple Writing Pays Off (Literally) in Disclosure documents and others

Financial writing is full of jargon and complexity. But a series of research suggests that investors are drawn to simple, clear writing with short sentences. The simple reason is that complex writing is off-putting — people tune out and find it dull, a fact confirmed by neuroscience research. The author reviews a series of studies on the financial value of good writing and offers a few tips to communicate more clearly with investors, or with anyone else.

New campaign: Protect yourself from the flu

Influenza (flu) season generally occurs in the fall and winter but can occur as early as October and as late as May. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others. Getting the flu shot is your best protection. We would like your help with sharing this information to encourage and inform the campus community to get their flu shot.

New campaign: 2022 ShakeOut BC

This year, the annual province-wide earthquake drill, ‘Great British Columbia ShakeOut’, takes place at 10:20 a.m. on October 20, 2022. In addition to the Shakeout drill, two earthquake public-information events will be happening on the UBC Vancouver campus. Please help share this information with your faculty/departments.

Starting September 19, 2022, a Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) COVID-19 booster clinic has opened at the UBC Life Sciences Centre. Please help share this information with your faculty/departments.
