May 4 to 10, 2025 is Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week). We would like your help with promoting EP Week to increase our community’s resilience, and emergency awareness and preparedness.
Supporting Indigenous suppliers
With the recent developments regarding U.S. tariffs, we would like to encourage the UBC community to consider purchasing from Indigenous businesses. UBC Faculty and staff can find Indigenous vendors using the UBC Indigenous Business Directory and following the step-by-step guide for purchasing.

Help with the Point-in-Time Homeless Count at UBC
This will be the second year UBC Vancouver Point Grey is participating in the Homelessness Count. UBC Campus Security is looking for volunteers from across campus to take part in this event to collect details about the experiences and demographics of people who are experiencing homelessness.
UBC Alert Testing January 17
UBC Alert is the university’s mass notification system used to send alerts in urgent situations that pose an immediate safety or security risk to the community. We would like your help to remind students, faculty, and staff to update their contact information in Workday to ensure they receive UBC Alerts.
Don’t feed the clog monster
Help UBC Facilities raise awareness around the problems with flushing paper towels. UBC faces significant responsive maintenance costs when toilet plumbing issues arise. We will be running a campaign and engaging with students through an awareness event on October 29 & 30.
Safety Awareness Week is September 9–13, 2024
September 9–13, 2024 is Safety Awareness Week. We would like your help with promoting Safety Awareness Week to maintain a safe and secure campus for our university community.
New Campaign: Reimbursing Expenses Training Course
To assist staff and faculty in submitting expense reimbursements, Finance & Integrated Services has put together a Reimbursing Expenses – “Carpe per Diem” online course. Help us share this course with anyone new to submitting expenses.
New campaign: Furniture Reuse Program
The Furniture Reuse program accepts donations of gently used, surplus furniture from faculty and departments and resells it to the UBC community and broader public to help divert waste from disposal. Help us promote this sustainability initiative.
