Posters, magazines, handbooks and more!
These days many of our communications are digital, but choosing print media can still be an effective part of the mix. Print lends credibility and permanence to certain materials, like annual reports or publications, and also provides us with opportunities to put messages into the physical environment like posters, decals, display booths, and more.
Considerations
This channel is best when
- you need something tactile or experiential.
- something physical, like posters or decals on the ground, puts your message into people’s environments.
- you need to share a sense of permanence or value.
- you need to capture an audience that is not online or may fall between the cracks of other channels.
When to change the channel?
- Printing can be done quite cheaply using local (in-office) colour printers, but a highly finished document done out-of-house can be very expensive.
- Print carries an environmental toll — from the inks to the paper, everything is factory-produced and inevitably leads to waste.
- Measurement requires special creativity when compared to digital communications.
- Professional print pieces require specialists such as graphic designers, writers, or editors to be the most effective.
