Overview
UBC forums, surveys, and polling are some of the mechanisms available on campus to help us capture insight from the UBC community. In this session, we shared updates on VPFO communications projects and initiatives, as well as the various marketing intelligence programs available at UBC – how some of these mechanisms are used, and how data is translated into strategic and actionable insights.
The semi-annual VPFO Brand Workshop is a great opportunity to connect and share ideas with peers outside your unit, and to learn more about what’s happening within the VPFO portfolio. The next session will be in the Fall of 2019.
Surveys at UBC
John Lo, Director, Marketing Intelligence from UBC Communications provided an overview of what is marketing intelligence – what are the mechanisms used to capture the collective ‘voice’ of faculty, staff, students, and alumni, how the data is collected, and how are these mechanisms used to enable strategic and actionable insights.
John Lo is the Director of Marketing Intelligence at UBC Communications. In his role, John works with units across the university and provides market research and audience insights to support and evaluate their business strategies and initiatives. John has 20 years of experience in marketing research and business analytics. Prior to joining UBC over five years ago, John spent 10 years working in financial services, leading strategic research, database marketing, and business intelligence functions. John was also an instructor of marketing and marketing research at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
VPFO Communications Flickr
The VPFO Communications Flickr site was officially launched in April. In this session, we walked through the different collections and albums, as well as the functionality of the site. This curated photo library captures our people at work in iconic UBC settings and is available for your use in official UBC websites, presentations, reports, award submissions, and more. If there are albums or collections you are looking for that are unavailable, please feel free to reach out to us. We are happy to sit down with you for a chat, or to discuss possibly setting up a specific photoshoot for your unit. This library is for UBC internal use only and will be updated on an on-going basis.
