Faculty & Staff Communicators

Our communications partners in the Faculties and departments

There are countless ways to reach different groups at UBC, and many units have their own internal channels that the general community might not be aware of. UBC has a Communicator’s Network and an Internal Communications Working Group that connect to share information between central teams, faculty teams, and administrative unit teams, so that the right content finds its way to the right places.

Considerations

This channel is best when…

  • if you’re trying to reach a specific audience in a specific faculty or unit, or a certain kind of worker on campus (like lab techs, for example) leveraging these networks can be an effective way to get your message heard.
  • you need highly targeted and high engagement comms support in a specific area of the university. These teams are the experts.

When to change the channel?

  • No one likes spam, so make certain that the message you’re asking these teams to send is highly relevant and useful for their specific audiences.

Details

The UBC Communicators Network meets bimonthly, and also distributes a regular newsletter to registered communicators across both campuses. The Internal Communications Working Group is managed by UBC’s central Internal Communications team. They meet monthly, but also have a SharePoint site that they use to share content, campaigns, and key information between teams.

How to access

The VPFO Communications & Engagement team is connected to both of these resources., get in touch with your VPFO communications advisor if you’re considering using channels accessed through these groups.
