Campaign Overview
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) discontinued the T2200S short forms for the 2023 tax year. On January 31, 2024, updates were made to the alternative methods that employees can claim home office expenses on their personal income tax return, and this remains the same for the 2024 tax year. Employees must now use the detailed method, requiring a completed Form T2200 to claim home office expenses for 2024. More information is available on the UBC Finance Portal.

T2200 Declaration of Conditions of Employment
On January 31, 2024, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) made updates to the alternative methods that employees can claim home office expenses on their personal income tax return, and this remains the same for the 2024 tax year.
This only applies to those UBC employees that are eligible to participate in the formal UBC Hybrid Work Program and had an approved Hybrid Work Agreement in place.
If you require a T2200 Form for your 2024 tax year, employees should request a signature from their supervisor on the T2200 Form and upload the signed copy of the T2200 form and the checklist to the employee’s Workday Personal Documents Screen.
If you require further assistance, please contact the Canada Revenue Agency directly or enlist the services of a professional tax advisor. The University cannot advise employees on their personal income taxes.
